In a casual chat with Indian journalist Faridoon Shahryar, famous Pakistani actress Hira Mani shared her love for Bollywood. She talked about how much she admired the late Indian actress Sridevi and how she inspired her.
Hira Mani further mentioned that Sridevi’s grace in sarees influenced her style. She even said that if Sridevi had never worn sarees, she might not have worn them.
Hira Mani’s Love for Bollywood Shines Bright
“I used to love seeing Sridevi in sarees. She’s no longer with us, but she looked stunning in them,” Hira shared.
She explained that her love for sarees started in childhood, influenced by her mother’s love for Bollywood music.
“My mom would play songs from movies like Chandni while cleaning the house. She also looked beautiful in sarees, and that’s how I started liking them. And honestly, if Sridevi had never worn sarees, I probably wouldn’t have either.“
Hira amazed her fans when she stepped out into the snowy streets of Pittsburgh wearing a saree.
Talking about her viral Instagram post, she shared that it was her friend who encouraged her to make this dream come true. “It was my friend’s idea,” she said. “She told me, ‘Let’s make this wish of yours come true.’ And I happily agreed.“
Comedy vs. Melodrama
Hira not only loves Sridevi’s amazing fashion sense but also admires her for being incredibly funny on screen. “She has perfect comic timing,” Hira said, explaining that balancing humor and serious acting is a rare skill.
When asked if any Pakistani actors have a similar talent, she praised the veteran actress Shehnaz Sheikh. “She has a soft, natural sense of humor, which is not easy to mix with being a lead actress.”
Hira talked about how hard comedic acting can be. She said it’s important to deliver lines naturally and stay true to the character. “You have to look effortless while saying funny lines. Doing that while playing a shy heroine is tough.”
From Comedy to Serious Roles: A Career Transformation
She started her career with a comedy role in Meri Teri Kahani, but she feels her real breakthrough came when she took on serious roles.
“I think my career changed when I started doing serious acting. Once I got into it, I felt like I had found my thing. But in real life, I’m not serious at all. I’m a total joker! I love taking on challenges, so when I pull off emotional scenes, I feel proud because it’s the opposite of who I am.”
The Geet Comparison: A Perfect Match?
Hira thought about how Bollywood influenced her career and remembered how people often compared her to Kareena Kapoor’s character, Geet, from “Jab We Met.”
She said, “My aunt called me and said, ‘Hira, this character is just like you!’ Then, our whole family sat together to watch the movie. So yes, she is like me. Maybe Imtiaz Ali saw me on a train and got inspired,” she joked.
Hira knows it’s tough to be naturally energetic while people accuse her of copying famous roles. “People say I’m imitating a character, but this is just how I am,” she said. “Though, I do enjoy mimicking Kareena’s characters sometimes.”
Hira showed her talent for imitation by acting out some of Geet’s funniest scenes during the interview. Everyone laughed at her lively performance, but for a moment, she covered her face shyly.
Then, she gained confidence again and stepped into another popular Kareena role, Poo, from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Winning Hearts with Her Unfiltered Charm
The “Do Bol” actress talked about her energetic personality in interviews and said she prefers to be real instead of giving rehearsed answers.
She explained, “I’m not trying to be different on purpose, I just let my true self shine. Honestly, everyone has their quirks. I could sit there and give a perfectly polished interview, but why should I? I don’t want to pretend to be someone I’m not.”
Hira Mani wins hearts with her charm, humor, and raw honesty. She loves to celebrate Bollywood legends and isn’t afraid to be herself. Her realness and passion for acting keep fans hooked.
